Leaving return-to-home settings at the default. A return altitude that clears obstacles at one site may fly straight into a tower at another. Setting the return behavior for the specific site, as part of the survey, keeps a lost-link recovery from becoming a collision.
Not assigning roles before takeoff. A procedure with no one named to execute it stalls when seconds count. Briefing the crew on who watches for traffic, who calls the flight, and who handles people on the ground is what lets a plan work.
